Max killed our female turkey this morning.
I didn't think to look in the yard before I let him out this morning and I guess she was in it.
I am absolutely broken hearted. And so is TOD.
This sucks.
I was going to go ahead and butcher her, but there just isn't enough meat to bother. What a total waste. I really hate days like this.
Max has had a poultry problem since we got him earlier this year. We think it is left from his days as a rural stray. We are trying really hard to correct it, but I screwed up and let him out without checking the yard and without his training collar on.
This is an unbelievably upsetting lesson. But one I hope to learn and not get lax about again.
Sh*t.
Hmmm. Where to Start?

Wow, that really is a lousy break. At least he didnt get into the hen house. And its not like he tore through the pasture killing a dozen turkeys. Do you think you could find a turkey from another farm to replace her?
Now TOD has some real issues to deal with. Watch your back.
TOD is hanging with the ducks now, so he seems OK. But he was on the barn roof freaking out right after it happened and then looked depressed the rest of the day.
I don't think we'd be able to find another one easily. They don't show up much on craigslist and it's past the season at the feed stores, etc.
But I think he'll be OK with his duck buddies. Poor TOD. To think I was willing to kick him just a couple days ago. I feel terrible now.
